‘History Repeats’ comes from Brittany Howard’s upcoming debut solo album Jaime, set for a September 20^th 2019 release. While her career as the frontwoman of Grammy winning blues rock band Alabama Shakes is well documented, her solo career is a fresh invention. This track is “as much a personal song as it is a song about us as a human species. Our times of success may propel us forward, but our repeating failures hold us back from evolving into harmony”. Aside from the reflective lyrics drawn out by Howard’s lead vocal, the contribution from astonishingly talented jazz keyboard player Robert Glasper is hugely exciting, as he makes his powerful presence felt throughout. -Dan Peeke
